purpose driven

Sorry I have not blogged in awhile...there has really not been a lot of inspiration. But I decided tonight was the night to buckle down and just sit and type. Deal :)

I recently was looking through my book shelf, my bibles and various journals and came upon the book The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. I have had this book now for a few years and started to read it, but I decided that this is what I was "giving-up" for lent. But I also didn't want to "give-up" anything for lent, I wanted to give INTO something. DING! Perfecto. Here we come book!

Confession, I am only on the second chapter...but am already learning a lot. At least my kind of learning. Learning about why I am on this planet, and why I can thank the almighty God for creating me and giving me a purpose (something I love knowing, especially now. At this exact moment.) In the opening, he suggests to get a better understanding of the book to only read one chapter at a time. To let it soak in.
-I like to read the chapter at night, sit and think about it and then re-read it in the morning when I wake up (After setting my alarm titled with the lesson that I learned) and then think about it all day.
Underlined points in my book so far, (you can skip this part and you won't miss anything if you want!)

-For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible,...everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him. Colossians 1:16
-Focusing on ourselves will never reveal life's purpose
-God is not just the starting point of your life, he is the source of it.

You were made by God and for God-
and until you understand that, life will never make sense.
