the world spins round and round..

I cannot even begin to describe the magical past few months that I have had. The amazing people who have changed my life and the experiences that I have been so blessed to be a part of.

"I think you would agree..CBS is the place for me."

I was more nervous going back to camp this year than last year because I knew what to expect. It is hard knowing that such a different group will be there with you and that your direct group that you became so close too are all in different places for the summer, and only a small percentage returning back to camp. Within the first hour, I already knew that this summer would be unique. I anxiously awaited Schelin's arrival and her friend Anna Lynn. When they finally arrived in the circular drive, I met Anna Lynn and I knew that between meeting her and Schelin (who was my JC last summer..) my life would never be the same. I also met Jen, who is from New Zealand. Jen came to camp & America for the first time through a program called Camp America. She is also in FARTS and we become so so close. It was so hard to leave all of these wonderful people when it was finally time for me to come home.

I was apart of the Fine Arts Department (Cheerleading, Dance, Drama, Woodworking and Arts & Crafts) so when they children were in there classes during the day, I would most likely be teaching one of these classes. All of the FARTS (Fine-Arts) girls became really close and that was nice because we have a lot of down time. In the words of Finding Nemo..."Farts are friends not food." We just can't help that we are crafty..
Anna Lynn, Ellie and I were also lucky enough to coach an older group of Silver Spurs (there are teams at camp, two girls teams and two boys teams...) who we became very attatched too. These girls were such amazing athletes and so inspirational. We became very close! They ran the gauntlet and they all had to run it twice (it is very grueling!) and one of the girls even ran it with a her knee popped out of socket! Ouch! So thankful that God brought all of these girls into our lives this summer.

The first two weeks that we were there it was only counselors, so that we can get camp ready for the children's arrival and to get trained in our departments, first aid trained etc.. It was wonderful. I think that one of the best parts of CBS is that you get to know everyone that you are working with so well, it is so so special. Sometimes we even forget that the children are coming because we are having such a good time that it feels like WE are the campers! Everyone there is to spread God's word and to impact the children's lives. The people you meet are so incredible.

1 Timothy 4:12
"Do not let anyone look down upon you because you are young, BUT be an example! In speech, life, love, faith and purity."

"Wake up in the morning feeling like J.Beiber
Got our water were out the door were gonna hit the Rio
Before we leave, brush our teeth with a bottle of Syrup
Because when we leave for the day we ain't coming back
Were swimming in lake ted (ted) playing sports with Bed Head
Playing in Team Comp (comp) Yo Johnson we never stop!"

Term 1, I was in Johnson cabin and had some of the most amazing children, I was also especially blessed because I had three of my campers last year in my cabin again (which was so very special..) I also had a great Co and Junior Counselor (Caitlin & Grace) The kids were amazing. We had six girls in our cabin and they were always excited and bouncing off of the walls. The girls were 10 years old and so very knowledgeable. Our girls loved to sing Lady Gaga and liked to be the most inappropriate when Caitlin and Grace were gone! They also thought that it was hilarious to play American Idol and each be judges while they were showering. In our cabin we had a Justin Beebs fan club (of course, we had posters of him everywhere too!) They were each so loving and had their own personalities, and definitely changed my life-without a doubt. I am so thankful for the amazing times and laughter that I got to share with these wonderful girls.

"The morning I wake up, before I make my bed up
We say a little prayer for Hughes
Were loosing our toothbrush,
We don't understand how to rush
We say a little prayer for Hughes
Were blaming everyone
At flagpole we love to run
We say a little prayer for Hughes
They're driving us crazy!!
They can't lace up their shoes daily!
We say a little prayer for Hughes"

For second term of camp, I was with a little bit older girls in Hughes cabin. They had just turned 10. It was the first time I had never had a Junior Counselor in a cabin! My co Anna and I had a lot of fun together, and loved laughing with the kids when they were entertaining us. One day when it was raining, we were in the cabin longer than normal and our girls decided it would be a good idea to go into your sleeping bag backwards and crawl around the floor. It was absolutely hilarious and after that the girls participate in this activity everyday! We also liked to wear bows, french braids, talk funny and give massages. Some nights we would stay up really late just laying in bed and talking. During actual camp out night, it got rained out so made forts in our cabin and the girls slept on the floor in their sleeping bags and in the morning they said that they had bug bites and spider bites! (I think they forgot that we didn't actually sleep outside!) We had two cousins in our cabin and one of them, Paula, is from Bogota, Colombia and Mariana is from Houston but can speak Spanish fluently also so we would try to pretend to speak Spanish in front of them! They were such a unique group of girls; all with big loving hearts. Such great friends to each other and such personalities.
